Don't Close Your Eyes.I love this series and was so excited to see another ebook released. Of course to my surprise it wasn't free like the other two were for the first months. Well Rachel Vincent is being so great and donating 100% of her royalties for the first six months (the period the book would have been free) to St. Jude's Children Hospital. Check out all the information here.
Sophie Cavanaugh is not going to let her freak of a cousin's strange psychiatric condition ruin high school for them both. Not after all the work she's put into cultivating the right look, and friends, and reputation. But then, Sophie sees something so frightening she lets out a blood-curdling scream—and finds herself stuck in a bizarre parallel world where nothing is safe and deadly creatures lurk just out of sight, waiting for her to close her eyes and sleep...forever.
Could this world be real? Or does insanity run in the family...?
To start, this book is in Sophie's POV. Like almost everyone else, I too do not like Sophie. Rachel wrote this novella for a reason though, and I had faith that, as with her other two novellas, there was a darn good reason.
This story does not really try to show you Sophie in a new light and make you try to like her, which I liked. I liked that Rachel didn't try to all of a sudden change a character that we all know and, well dislike. The story instead shows you Sophie's discoveries. A new boy, a new world, new meaning to the words life and death. While I did not like Sophie, I found her story to be really interesting. I especially liked the way a certain event from If I Die was woven in and a bunch of other hints and past references.
Overall this was another great novella for the series. There is a huge spoiler in this story if you have not read the other books, so do not read this book without having read the previous novels.
