If you've seen the news lately (in the USA), then you've probably seen Tim Tebow. Honestly I never understood the whole phenomena around him, but after seeing his amazing overtime pass against the Steelers in the playoffs (2012), I was curious.
Over the course of the last five years, Tim Tebow established himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of college football and a top prospect in the NFL. During that time he amassed an unparalleled resume—winning two BCS national championships, becoming the first sophomore in NCAA history to win the Heisman trophy, and in the face of massive public scrutiny, being drafted in the first round of the NFL draft by the Denver Broncos.
Now, in Through My Eyes, Tebow brings readers everywhere an inspirational memoir about life as he chose to live it, revealing how his faith and family values, combined with his relentless will to succeed, have molded him into the person that he is today. As the son of Christian missionaries, Tebow has a unique story to tell—from the circumstances of his birth, to his home-schooled roots, to his record-setting collegiate football career with the Florida Gators and everything else that took place in between.
At every step, Tebow's life has defied convention and expectation. While aspects of his life have been well-documented, the stories have always been filtered through the opinions and words of others. Through My Eyes is his passionate, firsthand, never-before-told account of how it all really happened.
First off, if you don't really like football and you don't care much about Tim Tebow, I don't think you'd like this book. He reminisces a lot about high school and college games he played in. I don't want to discourage those who are looking for information on his life beyond football though, he does talk about family a lot and of course his faith.
I can't say enough how inspirational this book really was. He is truly an inspiration for everyone, not just aspiring football players. You really get a feel of who he is through this book. Everything he does he does as best he can, times a thousand. He puts more effort into things than anyone else and that includes his faith.
I really started reading this book to hear about his faith. Everything I had seen about Tim Tebow had some mention of his faith, so of course I was most curious about this. It was really amazing to see what a deeply devoted Christian he really is, not surprising but amazing. For any star athlete to really have that faith AND share about it is something inspiring because there are so many people that want to put them down. His faith really is the most inspiring thing he shares in this memoir.
I don't really know what else I could say besides this: read this book. You may be skeptical about Tim Tebow, you may be merely curious, whatever it is if you have the slightest urge to pick up this book I want you to do that. Don't hesitate because I honestly believe you will be touched by what Tim Tebow has to share with you.
